Blueberry compote left out overnight

Left my blueberry compote out overnight

I cooked up some blueberry compote last night (just blueberries, no additional ingredients), but I accidentally left it out to cool with the lid slightly ajar and forgot about it while I fell asleep.

Is there any possibility it’s still safe to eat? I’d hate to waste it, but I also don’t want to risk getting sick. I didn’t see any mold or notice any strange smells. What do you think?

  1. It’s generally recommended to err on the side of caution when it comes to food safety. Since the blueberry compote was left out overnight at room temperature, it’s best not to eat it. Bacteria can grow quickly in food that has been left out for more than two hours, and even if there are no visible signs of spoilage or bad smells, harmful bacteria might still be present. To avoid potential foodborne illness, it would be safest to discard the compote. Better to be safe than sorry!
