Can I jerk cottage roll

Can I jerk cottage roll?

I’m not very familiar with cottage roll—it seems to be a brined pork shoulder. I was planning to cook it in a slow cooker with jerk sauce, but I’m starting to wonder if that’s a good idea. Does anyone have any advice?

  1. Cottage roll is a cured pork shoulder that typically has a nice flavor, and using jerk sauce could add an interesting twist to it! The sweet and spicy flavors of jerk sauce can complement the rich and salty taste of the cottage roll.

Using a slow cooker is a great idea, as it will help tenderize the meat and allow the flavors to meld together. Just be mindful of the cooking time; since cottage roll is already cured, you might not need to cook it for as long as you would a regular pork shoulder. Start with about 6-8 hours on low, checking for doneness.

It could turn out delicious, but if you’re worried about the risk of overpowering the natural flavor of the meat, you might want to mix the jerk sauce with a bit of broth or other liquids to lighten it up. Enjoy your cooking!
