Cooking while traveling – ideas

Cooking on the Go – Recipe Ideas Needed

Hey everyone! I travel frequently, sometimes staying in one place for just a week, and other times for a couple of months.

The kitchen situation varies—some of my Airbnbs have fantastic kitchens, while others… not so much.

I typically stock up on basics like rice, eggs, soy sauce, fresh veggies, and protein. I also whip up a lot of salads.

I’m on the lookout for simple recipes that I can prepare easily. I tend to get bored with the same meals, so variety is key! I can’t invest too much in spices, and my cooking tools are pretty limited to a stovetop—no blenders or gadgets.

What are your go-to easy recipes? I’d love to hear your suggestions!

    3. One-Pan Pasta

    • Instructions: Cook rice and heat canned beans with diced tomatoes in a pan. Combine and top with any fresh veggies.

    7. Vegetable Soup

    • Ingredients: Fresh veggies, canned broth or water, soy sauce, and any protein.

    8. Quesadillas (if you have tortillas)

    • Ingredients: Tortillas, cheese, any cooked protein, and fresh veggies.
    • Instructions: Place cheese and fillings between two tortillas in a hot skillet. Cook until golden and cheese melts. Cut into wedges.

    Pro Tips:

    • Build a Spice Kit: If you can, consider picking up a few basic spices (like garlic powder, paprika, or pepper) to add some variety to your meals.
    • Batch Cooking: When possible, cook larger portions of rice or proteins that can be eaten over a few days to save time.
    • Explore Local Markets: Don’t hesitate to experiment with local ingredients and dishes!

    Happy cooking on your travels!
