Does anyone else hate the taste of breakfast sausage/sage?

Is there anyone else out there who can’t stand the taste of breakfast sausage or sage? I’ve never liked breakfast sausage, and I always thought my aversion stemmed from a particular flavor that seems to pop up in every kind I’ve tried. Unlike other sausages, which I enjoy, this one just doesn’t sit well with me. I think the culprit is sage. It’s in pretty much every breakfast sausage I’ve encountered, and while it seems popular, it really ruins breakfast for me. Does anyone else feel the same way? What is it about sage that I find so off-putting? I know these may seem like trivial questions, but I’ve actually pondered over this quite a bit!

  1. You’re definitely not alone in your dislike of breakfast sausage and sage! Many people have specific flavor preferences, and sage can be quite a strong herb that some find overwhelming or off-putting. It’s interesting how our taste buds react differently to various flavors, and sometimes they can evoke strong feelings—whether positive or negative.

Sage does have a very distinct earthy taste that can dominate other flavors in breakfast sausage, which might explain why it stands out to you. If you love other types of sausage, it might just be that the combination of spices traditionally used in breakfast sausage isn’t to your liking. It’s also possible that certain food memories or experiences could contribute to this preference.

If you’re looking to enjoy breakfast options without the sage flavor, you might want to try different types of breakfast meats or even make your own sausage using herbs and spices that you enjoy. It could be fun to experiment with flavors that you prefer!
