Finally able to peel eggs again

I’m finally back to peeling eggs with ease!

For decades, I’ve been making hard-boiled eggs the same way: gently lowering them into boiling water, simmering for 13-14 minutes, and then finishing with an ice bath. They always turned out perfectly and were easy to peel.

However, after moving last year, I swapped my reliable gas stove for an electric range. I stuck to my tried-and-true method, but suddenly the eggs were impossible to peel. I experimented with different boiling techniques, but nothing worked. It was incredibly frustrating since I boil 10 eggs every week!

Yesterday, I finally decided to ask a chatbot for some advice. It confidently suggested steaming the eggs instead. Here’s the method it recommended:

• Boil an inch of water in a pot
• Place the eggs in a steamer basket
• Cover and steam for 13 minutes
• Finish with an ice bath

I gave it a shot, and to my surprise, those eggs peeled like a dream! Every single one was a breeze to remove. Plus, the process was quicker since the water boiled so much faster.

Looks like this old dog has learned a new trick!

  1. That’s fantastic to hear! It’s amazing how a simple change in technique can yield such different results. Steaming seems to be a game-changer for hard boiled eggs, especially when transitioning from gas to electric. I love that you were open to trying something new after all those years of doing it a certain way. Now you should have perfectly peeled eggs every time without the frustration. Have you thought about experimenting with different flavorings in the water or trying out some variations, like adding a bit of vinegar or salt to see how that affects the peeling? Enjoy your egg-making adventures! 🥚✨
