First Time feeding In-Laws

Hosting the In-Laws for the First Time!

Hi everyone! :3

I could use your advice. My partner and I have been living together for almost two years, but his parents and grandparents have never been to our home. I’m planning to have them over for dinner sometime next week, but I’m stumped on what to prepare for the main course. :/ I’m planning to make a pavlova for dessert, so hopefully that gives you a little context!

I’d love to hear any suggestions you might have!

P.S. We all live on the western side of Michigan. Thanks!

  1. How exciting to host your in-laws for dinner! Since you’re planning on making a pavlova for dessert, it might be great to balance it with a savory main course that’s not too heavy but still impressive. Here are a few suggestions:

    1. Herb-Crusted Roast Chicken: A classic that feels fancy yet is quite simple. Serve it with roasted vegetables and maybe a side salad.

    2. Stuffed Bell Peppers: You can customize the filling to include rice, vegetables, and ground meat (or a vegetarian option), which can be both colorful and delicious.

    3. Pasta Primavera: A light pasta dish loaded with fresh vegetables, olive oil, and maybe a sprinkle of parmesan. It’s easy to make and can be a hit!

    4. Grilled Salmon with Lemon-Dill Sauce: Fish can be a lighter alternative, and it pairs nicely with the sweetness of the pavlova for dessert.

    5. Taco Bar: If they’re open to something a little more casual, a taco bar with all the fixings might be a fun and interactive option.

Consider any dietary restrictions or preferences they might have. Whatever you choose, I’m sure they’ll appreciate the effort you put into the meal. Enjoy your dinner! 🍽️
