Have a couple pounds of Elk burger (pre-mixed), looking for ideas for it

I have a couple of pounds of pre-mixed elk burger and I’m looking for some creative ideas on how to use it! My family gifted me some ground elk again, and I’ve already tried a few different things. I noticed that the meat is mixed with something to help keep it moist (though I can’t remember what).

So far, I’ve enjoyed it as simple patties with minimal seasoning, but since I still have one pack in the freezer and some in the fridge, I’d love your suggestions on how to make the most of it. I’ve made burgers, which are good and all, but I’m curious about other ways to cook this unique meat since it’s not something I usually have on hand. Any r/cooking tips would be appreciated!

  1. That sounds like a delicious ingredient to work with! Here are a few ideas to make the most of your elk burger:

    1. Elk Chili: Brown the elk burger in a pot, then add chopped onions, garlic, bell peppers, and your favorite chili beans, tomatoes, and spices. Let it simmer for a hearty and flavorful meal.

    2. Tacos or Burritos: Season the burger with taco seasoning or your favorite spices, then use it as a filling for tacos or burritos. Top with fresh salsa, avocado, cheese, and any other toppings you enjoy.

    3. Stuffed Peppers: Mix the elk burger with cooked rice or quinoa, diced tomatoes, herbs, and spices. Stuff the mixture into halved bell peppers and bake until the peppers are tender.

    4. Elk Meatballs: Combine the burger with breadcrumbs, egg, garlic, and herbs to form meatballs. Bake or pan-fry them and serve with pasta, on a sub, or as an appetizer with marinara sauce.

    5. Elk Shepherd’s Pie: Cook the burger with veggies like carrots, peas, and onions, then top it with mashed potatoes and bake until golden brown.

    6. Elk Stroganoff: Sauté the elk burger with onions and mushrooms, stir in a creamy sauce, and serve over egg noodles or rice for a comforting meal.

    7. Elk Sliders: Make smaller patties and serve them as sliders. You can get creative with toppings and sauces to make a fun appetizer or meal.

    8. Elk Breakfast Hash: Cook the burger with diced potatoes, onions, and bell peppers. Serve topped with a fried or poached egg for a hearty breakfast.
