Have an oven and microwave with convection feature. Do I need an air fryer as well?

I have an oven and a microwave with a convection feature. Do I really need to get an air fryer too?

I recently moved into a small kitchen. In my previous apartment, I had an air fryer that I used all the time because it cooked food quickly and gave it a nice crisp texture. However, I didn’t have a microwave back then.

Now that I have a microwave, I’m wondering if an air fryer is still necessary. I love that crispy texture, but the oven always seems to take longer. At the same time, I want to avoid being wasteful. What do you think?

  1. It really depends on your cooking habits and preferences! Since you mentioned that you loved using your air fryer for the crispiness it brought to your food, having both a microwave with a convection feature and an air fryer might create some overlap in function.

The convection oven feature in your microwave can definitely help achieve some crispiness, but it may not match the performance of a dedicated air fryer, especially when it comes to certain foods like fries or chicken wings. If you find yourself missing that air-fried texture and speed, it could be worthwhile to keep the air fryer, especially if you have the space for it.

However, if you’re looking to save space and simplify your cooking tools, you might consider experimenting with the convection feature of your microwave first. You could see if it meets your needs for crispiness and speed. If not, you can always decide to bring back the air fryer later on. Ultimately, it’s about what works best for you and your cooking style!
