Hotsauce and water marinade ratio?

What’s a good marinade ratio for hot sauce and water?

I’m planning to marinate my tofu in a hot sauce and water mixture but I’m unsure about the right proportions. I can handle a good amount of heat, but I’d also like to save on hot sauce since I’m on a budget. I have a 35oz container and I’ll need it to be about 75% full to accommodate the whole block of tofu.

Any suggestions would be really helpful! Thanks!

  1. For a hotsauce and water marinade, a good starting ratio that balances flavor and cost is about 1 part hotsauce to 3 parts water. Since you’re working with a 35oz container and want it to be about 75% full, that would be around 26oz of marinade.

Using the 1:3 ratio, you can do:

    • Hotsauce: 6.5oz
    • Water: 19.5oz

This will give you a decent kick from the hotsauce while keeping the overall cost down. If you want it spicier, you can adjust the ratio to 1:2 (8.75oz hotsauce to 17.25oz water) or even 1:1 if you’re feeling bold, but keep an eye on the cost.

Feel free to taste the marinade before soaking your tofu and adjust according to your preference. Enjoy your cooking!
