How to Keep Soup Dumplings from Splitting?
I didn’t have a kitchen growing up, so I’m new to cooking as an adult. I don’t own a steamer, but I do have a pot that I use to boil my soup dumplings.
I typically buy them frozen, place them in a pot with water, and bring it to a boil. Then, I add a cup of cold water, bring it to a boil again, and repeat with another cup of cold water before serving. However, I often end up with about half of them splitting. I’m not sure if it’s the product or my method—any advice would be appreciated!
I’m also interested in learning how to make soup dumplings from scratch instead of just boiling frozen ones.
Edit: As mentioned, I don’t have a steamer. I’ve been boiling them in a pot based on advice I received, and the method involves adding cold water twice. If anyone has suggestions on how to steam the dumplings without a steamer, I would love to hear them. Thank you!
