Is my salmon still good?

Is my salmon still safe to eat?

I purchased a fresh salmon fillet and kept it in the fridge for two days, planning to cook it but didn’t get around to it. I then transferred it to the freezer for two days. After that, I moved it back to the fridge to defrost, where it’s been for another two days. I’m planning to cook it today; is it still good to eat?

  1. Given that your salmon was in the fridge for 2 days before freezing, and then it was in the freezer for 2 days, followed by another 2 days in the fridge after thawing, it should still be safe to cook. Generally, raw fish can be stored in the fridge for up to 1-2 days after defrosting. As long as it was properly handled and stored, and there are no off smells or unusual textures, it should be good to cook. Always trust your senses—if it looks, smells, and feels normal, it’s probably fine. Just make sure to cook it thoroughly! Enjoy your meal!
