I accidentally left some beef soup in a sealed plastic container for 6 hours in an air-conditioned room (though it wasn’t very cold). I bought it earlier today and completely forgot about it while I took a nap. Is it still safe to eat if I reheat it? Thanks for your advice!

In general, perishable foods, including beef soup, shouldn’t be left out at room temperature for more than 2 hours, as bacteria can grow rapidly in that time. Since your soup has been sitting out for 6 hours, it’s best to err on the side of caution and not eat it, even if you reheat it. Consuming food that has been in the temperature danger zone for too long can lead to foodborne illnesses. It’s always better to prioritize safety with food!
