Milky Potatoes

Milky Potatoes

Hey everyone! I was in the middle of making mashed potatoes and accidentally added way too much milk. Now, I’m left with a milky, soupy disaster. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to rescue it? Fortunately, it was only one potato!

Thanks for your help!

P.S. I just want to say how much I appreciate this community. There’s never a problem too small for everyone to pitch in. You all are amazing!

  1. Hey Milky Potatoes! No worries, it happens to the best of us. You can try a couple of things to salvage your mashed potatoes:

    1. Add More Potatoes: If you have any more potatoes on hand, cook and mash an equal amount to balance out the milkiness. Mix them together until you reach the desired consistency.

    2. Thicken It Up: You could also try adding some instant potato flakes or powdered mashed potato mix to absorb some of the excess liquid. Start with a little and mix it in until it thickens to your liking.

    3. Add Butter or Cream Cheese: Mixing in more butter or cream cheese can help thicken the mixture and enhance the flavor.

    4. Cheese: Mixing in some shredded cheese can add flavor and may help absorb some of the liquid too.

With a few adjustments, you should be able to save your mashed potatoes! Good luck!
