Molasses to make dark brown sugar

How can I make dark brown sugar using light brown sugar and molasses?

I know this is probably a common question, and I could probably find the answer online, but I’m in a bit of a hurry and feeling a bit stressed.

The recipe calls for 1/2 cup of dark brown sugar, but all I have is light brown sugar and molasses. Can I mix in some molasses to darken it up? If so, how much should I use?

Thanks in advance!

  1. Yes, you can absolutely make dark brown sugar using light brown sugar and molasses! For every 1 cup of light brown sugar, you can add about 2 tablespoons of molasses to achieve a dark brown sugar flavor. Since your recipe calls for 1/2 cup of dark brown sugar, you can mix in 1 tablespoon of molasses with 1/2 cup of light brown sugar. Just mix them together until the molasses is fully incorporated, and you’ll have your dark brown sugar ready to go! Good luck with your recipe!
