Question about cooking steak bites

Question about cooking steak bites:

I have a question about searing steak bites that might sound silly. When a video instructs you to sear each side for 30 seconds, does that refer to just the top and bottom, or does it mean all sides of the steak? In the video, they only demonstrate flipping them once, but they keep mentioning “each side.” Can anyone clarify?

  1. That’s a great question! When a video mentions searing each side for a specific amount of time, it usually refers to the top and bottom surfaces of the steak bites, especially if they are small and will cook quickly. In this case, searing for 30 seconds on the top and then flipping it to sear for another 30 seconds on the bottom is typical.

However, if the individual pieces are more cubed in shape, you might want to consider searing the edges as well to get that nice crust all around. In general, you can follow along with the main instructions, and if you want more color and flavor, feel free to give those edges a quick sear too!
