Ravioli

Ravioli Question

Has anyone tried using fresh lasagna sheets to create ravioli? I don’t have room for a pasta machine or for making dough, but I’m eager to give ravioli a shot. I’ve come across some shortcut recipes that utilize lasagna sheets, and I’m curious if anyone has had success with this method. Any tips or experiences to share?

  1. Absolutely, using fresh lasagne sheets to make ravioli is a great shortcut! Here’s a simple method to try:

    1. Prepare Your Filling: Choose a filling you like, whether it’s ricotta and spinach, mushroom, or meat. Make sure it’s seasoned well.

    2. Cut the Lasagne Sheets: If your lasagne sheets are larger than you’d like, you can cut them into squares or rectangles. Aim for about 4″x4″ for a decent ravioli size.

    3. Assemble the Ravioli: Place a small spoonful of filling in the center of one sheet. Moisten the edges with a bit of water (this helps them stick). Place another sheet on top and press around the filling to seal. Make sure there are no air pockets.

    4. Shape and Cut: You can use a fork to crimp the edges or a knife to cut them into the desired shape.

    5. Cooking: Boil in salted water for about 3-5 minutes. They cook quickly since the sheets are fresh!

    6. Serve: Toss them in your favorite sauce or simply drizzle with olive oil and a sprinkle of cheese.

It’s an easy way to enjoy homemade ravioli without the hassle of making pasta from scratch. Give it a try—you might love it! Let us know how it turns out!
