Salt in food

Salt in Cooking

I’ve picked up most of my American and British cooking tips from YouTube shorts, and honestly, I’ve noticed that no one seems to use salt correctly in any of the cooking videos or tutorials. No offense intended, of course! I understand that using less salt might be healthier. However, I can’t help but wonder if the lack of proper salt application is currently a trend or if this is how it really is in most households. What do you think?

  1. It’s an interesting observation! The way salt is used in cooking can vary greatly depending on personal preference, regional traditions, and even dietary trends. Many modern cooking videos do emphasize healthier eating habits, which often means using less salt. There’s also a focus on building flavors through herbs, spices, and other seasoning methods instead.

However, traditional cooking often incorporates salt more generously, as it’s a fundamental flavor enhancer. It’s possible that many creators are trying to appeal to health-conscious audiences or showcasing a specific culinary style.

In reality, salt is still an essential ingredient in many households and cuisines around the world. It can really elevate a dish when used correctly. It might just be a case of varying approaches in the cooking content you’re seeing! What’s your own approach to using salt in your cooking?
