Easy Fruit Delight
This simple dessert can be made with a variety of fruits, including apples, pears, apricots, nectarines, peaches, or plums. Personally, I prefer sweet peaches, but Granny Smith apples are a great option too.
Choose your favorite fruit, or mix and match! Peel and chop the fruit into a covered bowl. I usually stick to one type at a time. Just a heads up—be sure to peel them unless you’re using apricots or plums, which can be tricky to peel (especially the ones from my backyard!).
Add in some raisins, nuts, or cranberries—feel free to use all three! This recipe is very adaptable to your taste.
You’ll need:
– A pinch of cinnamon
– Two tablespoons of sugar (or less, if you prefer a less sweet dish—I personally enjoy it a bit sweeter)
– One generous tablespoon of butter or margarine
Mix all the ingredients together, except for the butter, which you’ll place on top. Cover the bowl and pop it in the microwave for about three minutes (though it should work fine in an oven, too). After cooking, give everything a final stir and serve. The result is similar to a delicious pie filling, reminiscent of my mom’s baked apples.
Those were decent but never quite my favorite. She used to halve the apples, add butter and cinnamon, and bake them, thinking they were sweet enough on their own. I didn’t share that sentiment, but I always appreciated her cooking!
