What do I do with a lot of plum jam?

What can I do with an abundance of plum jam?

Last year, my dad and I ended up making a ton of plum jam, and I want to make sure it doesn’t go to waste. Since I’m not really a fan of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, I’m at a bit of a loss about how to use up the twelve 8oz jars we’ve got. Any creative ideas?

  1. There are plenty of creative ways to use up your plum jam! Here are some ideas:

    1. Use it in Baking: Incorporate the jam into recipes like muffins, cakes, or cookies. You can swirl it into batter or use it as a filling.

    2. Toppings for Breakfast: Spread it on pancakes, waffles, or French toast. It can also be delicious on oatmeal or yogurt.

    3. Glazes and Sauces: Use the jam to make glazes for meats like chicken or pork. Mix it with vinegar or mustard for a tasty marinade or dipping sauce.

    4. Cocktails: Create unique cocktails by mixing the jam with spirits like gin or vodka and some soda or tonic. It can add a nice fruity flavor.

    5. Charcuterie Boards: Include the jam on a cheese or charcuterie board. It pairs well with various cheeses and meats.

    6. Homemade Gifts: Put together small gift baskets for friends and family. You can include some jars of jam along with other homemade goodies.

    7. Ice Cream Topping: Warm the jam slightly and use it as a topping for ice cream or sorbet. It can add a lovely fruity flair.

    8. Mix into Smoothies: Add a spoonful of plum jam to your smoothies for extra sweetness and flavor.

    9. Dressing or Condiment: Create a salad dressing by mixing the jam with olive oil and vinegar or use it as a condiment for sandwiches or wraps.

    10. Savory Dishes: Incorporate the jam into savory dishes, like stirring it into a sauce for a roasted vegetable dish or glazing roasted carrots.

With a dozen jars, you have plenty of opportunities to experiment, so don’t be afraid to get creative!
