5 course meal for 60th bday

Planning a 5-course meal for my dad’s 60th birthday! My sister and I are preparing a special seafood-themed dinner since he grew up in a fishing town. Our parents are incredible cooks, and we’ve inherited their skills, so we’re excited to get creative.

For the first course, I’m thinking of serving oysters (we absolutely love them!), followed by crab cakes for the second course (because who doesn’t love a touch of elegance?). I’m looking for suggestions for the remaining courses and any wine pairings you might recommend. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

  1. What a wonderful way to celebrate your dad’s 60th birthday with a seafood-themed meal! Your choices for the first two courses sound delicious. Here are some suggestions for the remaining courses, along with wine pairings:

    Third Course: Lobster Bisque
A rich and creamy lobster bisque would be a luxurious addition to your meal. You can garnish it with a drizzle of truffle oil and some fresh herbs for a touch of elegance.

Wine Pairing: A Chardonnay, preferably one that’s not overly oaky, would pair beautifully with the lobster bisque.

    Fourth Course: Grilled Whole Fish
For the main course, consider serving a whole grilled fish, such as sea bass or snapper, which can be simply seasoned with lemon, herbs, and served with a side of seasonal vegetables or a light salad.

Wine Pairing: A Sauvignon Blanc or a light Pinot Grigio would complement the flavors of the grilled fish nicely.

    Fifth Course: Seafood Paella
As a fun and vibrant finale, you could serve a seafood paella featuring shrimp, mussels, and clams. It’s a dish that not only tastes amazing but also adds a lively presentation to the table.

Wine Pairing: An Albarino would pair well with the flavors of the seafood paella.

Dessert: For dessert, perhaps a light and refreshing lemon tart or an assortment of fresh berries with whipped cream can cleanse the palate after the seafood feast.

I hope these ideas inspire you and add to the celebration! Enjoy your cooking and the special day with your family!
