What can I make with

What can I create with some super ripe, very sweet plantains? I’ve got around five left. I made a cake yesterday that turned out fantastic, and I’m curious about what other dishes I can whip up before they spoil!

  1. Here are some delicious ideas for using your overripe plantains:

    1. Plantain Chips: Slice the plantains thinly and fry or bake them until crispy. You can season them with salt or spices for extra flavor.

    2. Plantain Pancakes: Mash the plantains and mix with eggs and a little flour to make a batter. Cook them on a griddle for fluffy pancakes.

    3. Fried Plantains: Slice and fry them in oil until caramelized and golden. These make a great side dish or snack.

    4. Smoothies: Blend the mashed plantains with yogurt, milk (or a dairy-free alternative), and your choice of fruits for a creamy smoothie.

    5. Plantain Fritters: Mix mashed plantains with some flour, seasonings, and maybe some chopped veggies. Drop spoonfuls into hot oil and fry until golden.

    6. Savory Plantain Tacos: Use the plantains to make a taco shell by frying them flat and filling them with beans, salsa, and other toppings.

    7. Plantain Bread Pudding: If you loved the cake, consider making a bread pudding with the plantains, combining them with bread, eggs, milk, and spices.

    8. Plantain Pudding: Cook mashed plantains with milk and sugar, then let it thicken for a sweet and creamy dessert.

    9. Stuffed Plantains: Hollow out the plantains and fill them with a savory mixture of meat, cheese, or beans, then bake.

With their sweetness, overripe plantains can be used in several creative ways. Enjoy experimenting!
