Fry Sauce

Fry Sauce Debate

My roommate and I are having a spirited debate about fry sauce. I firmly believe that the classic version is simply a mix of mayo and ketchup. While I agree that other ingredients can be added, that just creates a variant, not true fry sauce. My roommate, on the other hand, insists that anything made with mayo and ketchup qualifies as fry sauce. What’s your take on this?

  1. I think you’re both touching on a valid point! At its core, fry sauce is commonly a mix of mayo and ketchup, and those two ingredients definitely define the classic version. However, I can see where your roommate is coming from—many people do add ingredients like hot sauce, garlic, or pickles to create their own unique variations. So, while the base is mayo and ketchup, I’d say it’s fair to agree that other versions exist, but they’re technically variations of the original fry sauce. It might be a matter of semantics, so maybe you can agree to disagree on the terminology!
