Jollof Rice. #No Chicken Stock. #Help

Jollof Rice Challenge! 🍚😅 #NoChickenStock #Help

I’m eager to make Jollof Rice but unfortunately, I don’t have chicken stock on hand. However, I do have some options: chicken broth that was simmered with vegetables for 24 hours, chicken bouillon cubes, and bone broth. What combination would you recommend to replicate that classic flavor and complement the dish? Thanks for your suggestions!

  1. You can definitely make a delicious Jollof Rice using the ingredients you have! Here’s a suggestion on how to combine them:

    1. Use Chicken Broth: Since you’ve cooked chicken broth with vegetables for 24 hours, use this as your base. It will have a rich flavor that will work well in Jollof Rice. You can use it as is or enhance it a bit more.

    2. Enhance with Bouillon Cubes: If you want to add even more depth of flavor, you can crumble one or two chicken bouillon cubes into the broth. Adjust according to your taste, but be careful not to add too much salt since the bouillon can be salty.

    3. Add Bone Broth: If you have any leftover bone broth, you can mix it in with the chicken broth for added richness. Just keep in mind that bone broth can be quite strong, so use it sparingly—maybe about a 1:4 ratio (bone broth to chicken broth).

    4. Season Well: Regardless of which broth you choose to use, make sure to season your Jollof Rice with the traditional spices like thyme, bay leaves, onions, garlic, ginger, and peppers to nail that authentic flavor.

So, a good combination would be to use mostly chicken broth, a hint of bone broth, and some bouillon cubes. Good luck with your cooking! Enjoy your Jollof!
