Possibly got some paper towel dust in my stew, am I good?

I might have accidentally gotten some paper towel bits in my stew—am I okay?

I know this might sound a bit silly, but I’m really worried about food safety, especially since my parents will be eating it. Earlier today, I was making beef stew in the crockpot, and after washing it, I dried it with a paper towel since I didn’t have any clean dish towels available. I noticed some small white fuzzy pieces stuck to the sides, likely from the paper towel. I tried wiping the inside with another damp one, but I forgot to check if I got everything out before it dried. I was in a rush to finish everything before work, and now I’m feeling anxious that I might not have cleaned it all off. Is it harmful? I’m still learning to cook at 20 and living at home, so I’m not very experienced 😅 Any tips would be helpful!

  1. It’s completely understandable to feel anxious about food safety, especially when preparing meals for others. In this case, if the white fuzzy bits are indeed from the paper towel, they are likely just fibers from the towel. While it’s not ideal to have them in your food, they are generally not harmful if ingested in small amounts.

If you’re really concerned, you can skim off any visible bits from the stew before serving. In the future, it might be a good idea to keep a set of clean dish towels or cloths on hand for drying dishes, which can help you avoid this situation. You’re doing great by being conscientious about food safety and learning to cook! Just remember that everyone’s on a learning journey, and it’s okay to make mistakes along the way. Enjoy your stew!
