Recipe ideas for cooking as a group/class

Group Cooking Class Recipe Ideas

I’m gearing up to lead some cooking classes for children aged 11 to 16 and could use some help with recipe ideas. We have 8 induction hobs and all the ingredients will be prepped and ready to go. The classes will last between 1 to 1.5 hours, so I need recipes that are both fun and manageable within that time frame.

I’d love to hear your suggestions, as this is my first time facilitating a group like this. Thanks in advance!

  1. That sounds like a fantastic opportunity! Here are some recipe ideas that are fun, easy to follow, and perfect for a group cooking class with teenagers:

    1. Taco Bar:
    2. Ingredients: Ground beef or turkey, taco seasoning, tortillas, toppings (lettuce, cheese, salsa, guacamole).
    3. Method: Cook the meat with seasoning on the induction hobs, and let each participant build their own tacos.

    4. Stir-Fry:

    5. Ingredients: A mix of vegetables (bell peppers, broccoli, carrots), protein (chicken, tofu, or shrimp), and stir-fry sauce.
    6. Method: Show them how to quickly chop veggies and protein, then stir-fry them together on the hobs. Serve over rice or noodles.

    7. Mini Pizzas:

    8. Ingredients: Pre-made pizza bases or pita bread, tomato sauce, cheese, and various toppings (pepperoni, veggies, olives).
    9. Method: Let them assemble their own pizzas and then bake them in the oven. They can experiment with different toppings!

    10. Pasta Salad:

    11. Ingredients: Cooked pasta, cherry tomatoes, cucumber, olives, cheese, and dressing (vinaigrette).
    12. Method: Each group can prepare their own pasta salad, mixing in their ingredients. This can also be made vegetarian!

    13. Homemade Burgers:

    14. Ingredients: Ground beef or plant-based patties, burger buns, and assorted toppings (lettuce, tomato, onions).
    15. Method: Teach them how to form and cook patties, then let them assemble their burgers with their chosen toppings.

    16. Fruit Kebabs:

    17. Ingredients: A variety of fruits (melon, grapes, strawberries, pineapple), yogurt or chocolate for dipping.
    18. Method: Let them cut up the fruit and thread them onto skewers for a fun, healthy snack.

    19. Quesadillas:

    20. Ingredients: Tortillas, cheese, and a selection of fillings (chicken, beans, peppers).
    21. Method: Teach them how to assemble and cook on the hob, and serve with salsa or guacamole.

    22. Chocolate Mug Cake:

    23. Ingredients: Flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, milk, oil, and chocolate chips.
    24. Method: Each person can mix their ingredients in a mug and microwave it for a quick and fun dessert.

Make sure to include some basic cooking techniques, safety tips, and encourage teamwork. Most importantly, keep the atmosphere fun and relaxed! Good luck with your classes!
