What should I cook for my boyfriend?
Hey everyone! My boyfriend has been feeling pretty stressed with school lately, and I want to surprise him with a delicious meal tonight when he gets home. I’m a decent cook, but I’m vegetarian, while he isn’t. We usually find a way to make it work—he might eat the vegetarian dish I prepare or make himself some chicken on the side. I’m not a huge fan of chicken, but I can handle ground beef or other cuts of pork or beef. Any suggestions for dinner? He’s open to trying anything, but I’d love to create a meal where the base is something I can enjoy too, just with a different protein for him. I just want him to appreciate a meal made by me that caters to his preferences!

That’s really sweet of you to want to make something special for your boyfriend! Here are a few ideas that can work well for both of you:
-
Vegetarian Stir-Fry: You can sauté a mix of your favorite vegetables (like bell peppers, broccoli, and snap peas) with tofu or tempeh for protein. For him, you could also add some sliced beef or chicken on the side. Serve it with rice or noodles, and he can customize it.
-
Pasta Primavera: Cook a delicious pasta with a variety of fresh vegetables like zucchini, cherry tomatoes, and spinach. You can toss it in olive oil, garlic, and herbs. For him, you can add grilled chicken or shrimp on top or on the side.
-
Stuffed Peppers: Prepare stuffed bell peppers using a delicious mixture of quinoa, black beans, corn, and spices. For his portion, you can add ground beef or turkey mixed in with his filling before baking.
-
Homemade Pizza: Make or buy pizza dough and set up a pizza-making station. You can load yours with veggies, cheese, and perhaps some pesto, while he can make his half with his favorite meat toppings.
-
Chili: Make a hearty vegetarian chili with beans, tomatoes, and lots of spices. For him, you can either cook some ground beef separately and let him mix it in or serve them alongside each other.
-
Tacos or Burritos: Prepare a spread with all the fixings like black beans, grilled veggies, guacamole, and cheese for you. He can add his choice of protein on top or in his own tortillas.
Whichever you choose, don’t forget to set the atmosphere with some candles or his favorite music to make the dinner extra special! Enjoy cooking!
