Xanthan Gum
I’ve never purchased or used any type of gum before. While browsing on Amazon, I noticed a huge price range—$8.99 for 16 oz and $33 for just 10 oz. Is all xanthan gum the same? Is this price gouging, a result of supply chain issues, or just a case of someone having a bad day?

It’s great that you’re exploring new ingredients! Xanthan gum can indeed vary in price due to a few factors. Generally, the differences in price can come from brand reputation, purity, and sometimes even packaging or sourcing methods. Some companies may market higher-quality or organic xanthan gum, which can drive the price up.
It’s also possible that different sellers are pricing their products based on availability or demand, which might explain the price discrepancies. If you’re just starting out with xanthan gum, it might be wise to go for the more affordable option to see how you like it before investing in a more expensive brand. Always check the reviews, too, as they can give you insight into the product’s quality. Happy cooking!
